Nomenclature is critical in chemistry but is not often viewed well with students. This important topic can sometimes come off as a bit "dry". This is a simple fun low risk method that helps students learn and review what they know about chemical nomenclature. Students are provided with a playing deck that has been altered with chemical symbols. The goal is for students to obtain the best five cards that are then combined to make chemical compounds. Points are received when students are able to write the correct formula with the correct name. Teachers will take the place of students during the workshop. All participants will receive access to materials that will help them recreate this in their own classroom. Some of the participants will leave with deck of prepared cards.
