PowerPoint is still a major teaching tool that is used in the classroom. The Flipped-Classroom model and other models have attempted to get away from the use of lectures but this workshop will show faculty how to use PowerPoint as an active learning tool. DRAWZY is a different way of engaging learners in science. It is an educational strategy that comprises a variety of different components in a methodical way in order to ensure science concepts are well understood. DRAWZY uses PowerPoint in a format that is used by many scientists when giving a talk, which is to have an image on each slide and to discuss that image. DRAWZY starts with a schematic that is reflective of the picture that the learner should be grasping and having students to analyze the schematic and information presented. The ability to write what the schematic is illustrating and zero-in on key information in order to have the information clear in one’s mind is the major focus of DRAWZY. In the end, DRAWZY yield results through the outcomes seen as a result of the knowledge the students will display which is assessed using questions that the faculty member will provide at the end of the PowerPoint and beyond. Every aspect of DRAWZY is unique because in other modes of scientific learning students are not presented with a schematic and provided a true outline of what is being illustrated with tidbits of information added on as the process continues simultaneously allowing students to draw and write and compare to what is presented.
