Hydrogen gas is collected in a pipet bulb from zince/hydrochloric acid reaction and oxygen from hydrogen peroxide decomposition. The gases are ignited with a piezo electric spark to propel bulb across the room. The H2/O2 ratio is adjusted for maximum flight distance. Key terms: stoichiometry; single replacement rxn; decomposition rxn; synthesis rxn; energy of activation; exothermic; Newton's 3rd Law. Fun wet lab that can be done in a fifty-minute class period.
